Meet our senior girl Arya. She found herself in the municipality pound where she spent few months until we were able to take her out and move her to the shelter. Today we went to visit her again and by chance we learned something very sad. Arya must have had a home once as she knows commands like "sit" and "down" spoken in English. She won't respond to Greek. Our gut feeling tells us that once she was diagnosed with leishmania her previous owners didn't want to pay for her treatment so the easiest thing was to just get rid of her. In a way I suppose she was lucky, especially ending up in the pound we try to help as although by law after 15 days the dogs could be PTS the guys would keep them as long as needed until we can get them out.

Arya has completed her leishmania treatment and she is ready for a new, better chapter in her life. Arya is roughly just over 7 years old, she is friendly with people, she isn't bothered by other dogs, could live with a calm older male of similar size. Could be cat tested.

Sadly as the shelter is overcrowded at the moment and the play areas are used as holding areas, plus the lack of volunteers coming to walk the dogs, Arya doesn't get to get out of her kennel a lot. She was so excited to have even 15 minutes out of the pen today.

Cyprus has gone so hot all of a sudden with the temperatures where she is gone up to 37°C today. Way too hot for a dog like her, an old lady with a tick coat.

It would mean the world to us to see this old lady going home on our next freedom flight. She truly deserves a couch to spend her golden years on and never be abandoned again. She's got tons of love to give in return.

If you wish to give Arya her retirement home please fill in the adoption application form. Thank you!
