Today I want to introduce a VERY SPECIAL girl, Kimia.
It has been over 5 years already since I started volunteering in animal rescue. During these 5 years I have met hundreds of dogs, different characters and personalities, many of them very very scared. This is the first time I have seen a dog transforming from a completely shut down dog to a dog that is soo excited to see us and soooo excited to go for a walk in just under 5 months.
Proud and happy is an understatement on how I feel watching this girl every time. And now is soooo ready for the next chapter in her life and I am hoping you can help her find her forever home very quickly.
Kimia arrived with 5 more doggies taken from a hunter. I don't even want to begin describing the condition of all 5, 4 of them petrified and the one that was not she needed extensive medical treatment. Now Kimia was not petrified; she was completely shut down. You would enter her kennel and she would freeze completely and was unable to move, never seen anything like this before. At first we were sitting far away and then a bit closer and we would not notice any difference. And then we started carrying her outside in the playground when her kennel mates were out. At first she would not move at all, not a single step, but then week after week she started wagging her tail, she would not move away she started moving around us choosing to stay close. And now omg, you enter the kennel and Kimia does not freeze anymore, she jumps around from excitement, jumps on us for cuddles and comes for treats. We no longer carry her outside; she walks nicely on a lead.
Do not get me wrong, there is still work to be done. The family will need to continue building up her confidence in new situations. She needs a home with another confident dog to help her grow in confidence even more. And I promise you the reward will be so big watching her flourish day by day.
Kimia is estimated to be about 6 years old, we had to remove several teeth when she arrived because they were rotten causing her lots of pain, so now her tongue often falls out of her mouth which makes her even more cute. Other than that she is in good health and ready for her forever home.
