Ronnie -3 year old Cyprus hound -foster _ Southend Essex

Ronnie's background is a sad one

He was dumped in a village with his brother Reggie , totally terrified
Both boys were skinny , covered in ticks and in desperate need of food and water
It took Ronnie some time to realise he was safe , that the humans he was with wouldn't hurt him
He's was very hand shy , we can only imagine the life this boy has been subjected to as a hunters dog
Ronnie sort comfort and reassurance from brother , helping him come to terms with the fact he was safe
However Ronnie needed more than this small shelter could offer and so the decision was made for him to fly to the UK as a foster in febuary 2024 to help him gain some trust and confidence

Since arriving in the UK Ronnie has come on so well ! A home placement was just what he needed
He's currently sharing his home with another calm girl who also helps him with his confidence

He takes a little while to warm to humans, obviously shaped by his past experiences but once he does , you find Ronnie is just full of love ! He adores attention and being stroked
He's a really cuddly boy who loves getting up close with his foster mum
Becoming almost a lap dog in a short time with her !!
He's still shy but is learning people are not all bad

Since arriving Ronnie has learnt many house rules , he's houstrained , he's learning leash walking, understandably he still requires more exposure to outside , new experiences can unnerve him , he needs a home where he'll be given the patience and understanding to explore his world further
He is a clever hound who enjoys learning and being trained .We've discovered he also has a fun side ! Ronnie has been known to steal the odd sock or bra and run around triumphantly with it in his mouth until its confiscated !! He has the sweetest of souls and such a loving personality

Ronnie can still be easily spooked at times so a quiet home with his humans around most of the time would be ideal .A family who enjoys a dog on the sofa who would happily be cuddled all day !
Ronnie would be better homed with another balanced, confident dog to help him build his confidence further .He is more than intrigued by squirrels and small furries ! So we don't think he should be homed with a cat
He has experienced children but we feel because of his nervous disposition , he'd be better suited to an adult only home , maybe teenage children who were dog savvy

We'd advise any adopter interested in Ronnie would be close enough to visit a number of times to build up some familiarity and trust

After all Ronnie has been through , he still wants to love and trust !
He deserves a wonderful forever home now where he can continue to build his trust with a family who will treasure him forever
