10 month old cross breed puppy, approx 12kg in Cyprus
ADOPTION OR FOSTER – we must get him on our August flight.

Sadly, the stories of neglect to dogs in Cyprus just never stops, Bertie and his brother Mochi were both found in May in a Pound, in conditions that can only be described as a filthy hell hole. They would have been strays, wandering the street before ending up in this godforsaken place. They had nothing to sleep on, only the cold, soiled concrete floor, caged for 24 hours a day, barely any food, only fed scraps if they were lucky. Mercifully all the dogs were rescued so Bertie and his brother went to one of our Shelters. It is absolutely heartbreaking what these souls have been through.
Bertie has never had a family to love and cuddle him, he has never known what it is like to sleep on a soft bed or the comfort of a sofa of his own, he has only known cruelty and hunger.
He is slowly coming out of his shell and is a very active 10 month old lad with high levels of energy. He gets along with other dogs and is very playful with his brother Mochi and his love for balls is evident.
He can be wary with people that he doesn’t know, which is understandable, he will avoid contact initially, but with time and he will approach and is happy to be stroked. He will need time and patience initially to gain his trust in people, which is to be expected given all he has been through.
Bertie is just starting to have a delayed puppy hood, so if left alone and unsupervised he could very well end up chewing things he shouldn’t. Living in a Shelter this has not been possible to test. Given his high levels of energy he will need to be mentally stimulated as well as plenty of daily exercise.
Bearing in mind that Bertie is very active, he will suit an experienced active family, or an experienced single person with a large garden to burn off any excess energy that he has. A quiet rural area would suit him best. Only families with children over 10 years old can be considered. A family where someone is home much of the day. No Cats.
Bertie gets along with other dogs, he could live with a resident dog or alone, either Male, Female medium to large active dogs.
Like many rescue dogs he is not housetrained so will need patience and guidance from his adopter to teach him and for them to learn his signals when he asks to go out. Some dogs are very ‘subtle’ with their signals so you will both learn.
He will need someone who will continue with training, he is bright and eager to learn. He will need to learn the basic’s which include training to loose lead walking and recall.
Although he has not been assessed with cats, due to his energy levels, rehoming him with cats is to be avoided as everything is a big game to him and there would be a good chance that he will chase, even if its just to play.

We would love Bertie to find his forever home and to have a family of his own who will shower him with love and kindness that he so deserves.
